LA DONNA LUPO (1999)-IN ITALIAN WITH ENGLISH SUBS, LETTERBOXED PRINT. Director: Aurelio Grimaldi, Stars: Loredana Cannata, Arturo Paglia, Pascal Persiano. As sex films go this is top drawer. It has very good production values. The music especially is excellent--it's interesting and varied and not the usual sub-Kenny G. crap found in sex films. The cinematography is also very good (and it's 35-mm film rather than digital video). The lead Loredana Catanada is absolutely stunning and a truly natural beauty (sans the over-sized silicone tits that come standard with most porn stars today). She was also a good enough actress to eventually break into the mainstream (despite the fact that some of her sex scenes here would technically be considered hardcore). As for the the plot, well, it's serviceable if very generic. Cantanada is the titular (and ass-ular)"she-wolf" who picks up one anonymous man after another, sometimes two at a time. She won't tell them her name or she gives them a fake one. The conflict arises when a naive, directionless college student falls in love with her and tries to get her to change her ways.

He plays Perrak like a caricature of the forthcoming Derrick, and he does it great. The plot delivers the kinky moments that are typical for the early 1970s, with Perrak investigating the murder of a transvestite prostitute. His inquiry leads him to all kinds of red light establishments and adds to the entertainment. The case becomes personal for Perrak when his son Joschi gets kidnapped by thugs towards the end to guarantee an exciting climax.

When they are confronted with each other, a strange combination of alliance and hostility is forged, while each one thinks of his opponent as a murderer. The psychological game unfolds. For one of them, the rope around his neck gets tighter, but he still has a card to play. The clever screen play and the good performances make it an enjoyable film for all "Highsmithians" and the likes.

To note as this is the uncut version it has a great many extra scenes including violence and nudity that was cut including Charlotte Ramplings full frontal nude scene and different opening credits and scenes, the bu ray pulled scene from the middle of the movie for the opening credits?? Not to mention Michael Lonsdale had his voice redubbed badly for the shorter US and Blu Ray release this version has his original voice as was intended.

As some of you know, this was an international production with 3 stories told by 3 directors, Terence Young, (best known for early Bond flicks) Christian Jaques, Known for French adventure movies, and Carlo Lizzani for many Italian genre pics, including Spaghetti Westerns & Eurocrime shows. The International release is approximately 2 hours, with some variation in cuts from country to country. The only currently available English version is a butchered cut of 87 minutes at NTSC running time - this mess, released by American International is hard to follow and re-arranges the 3 episodes out of logical order ... what the fuck!? The US intelligence chief in Europe relates the stories of three different espionage operations that he was involved in.Three quickies for the price of one and you get what you pay for. The plots of the individual segments are necessarily simple but each short film is better than the last. Robert Ryan is peripherally involved in each and his cynical narration seems appropriate only for the last story where even the good guys are bad. Italian, French, and British filmmakers each take their turn in presenting the trio of espionage tales.

HERCULES AGAINST THE SONS OF THE SUN (1964)-LETTERBOXED RARE ENGLISH DUBBED VERSION! Director: Osvaldo Civirani, Stars: Mark Forest, Anna-Maria Pace, Giuliano Gemma. This somewhat imaginative crossbreed sees the typical Italian hero Hercules (here played by American Mark Forest) finding himself mixed up with the Incas! Hercules is shipwrecked and immediately clashes with the locals yet helped by their rivals (led by Giuliano Gemma, still a year away from attaining genuine stardom with the first Ringo Spaghetti Western). Apparently, for all their architectural know-how, the Incas are still a backward people when it comes to warfare (given the surprising number on display here, they’re seemingly more interested in raising llamas than anything else) – so that it takes Hercules to update their weaponry and organize the surprise attack on the usurper!

Starring and directed by Isela Vega, she along with co-star Emilio “El Indio” Fernandez also starred in films shot in Mexico for Sam Peckinpah. Vega takes her surrogate daughter to see a local bruja to put a spell on a local boy after he has left for college in the US. Convinced he will forget her, she asks Saurina the witch to compel him to return to her no matter what. Vega is worried that THE LORD OF THE NIGHT will take over the girl’s soul and of course that’s what happens. The result is murder, complete body dismemberment, and the ruination of everyone involved. Vega’s only directorial effort, I imagine she had a Hell of a time getting it done in Macho Mexico (in fact it took her 4 years to get released after it was finished), is quite polished and extremely effective. Emilio Fernandez plays a tyrant of a father who murdered his wife over a complete misunderstanding and is quick to tell his daughter he always wanted a son. It’s kind of nice to see him burst into flame at the half way point. Elena de Haro (who is the star but gets no respect in billing or on IMDB) looks a lot like Veronica Lario from TENEBRAE, and successfully changes from local sweetheart to a bitch from Hell. Having a female slant to the film’s perspective made for a refreshing viewing experience.
METAMORFOSIS (1970)-IN SPANISH WITH ENGLISH SUBS, LETTERBOXED HD PRINT. STARS: Romy, Julian Ugarte. A rich businessman, Julián, runs a foundation that seeks cures for people with disabilities or abnormalities. During one experiment he finds an extraordinary being, but it is just a mirage, as cerebral abnormalities begin to appear, and the being does not want to return to its primitive state.
MURDER IN ECSTASY (1984)-IN DUTCH WITH ENGLISH SUBS. De Cock (Joop Doderer) is a detective in the Amsterdam police force who has seen it all and yet retains an innate concern for the welfare of his fellow human beings. In this police story, he is on the trail of a gang that robbed an armored truck and killed the driver and then followed up with an inexplicable string of subsequent murders. De Cock's love interest (Manouk van der Meulen) takes part in tracking down the assassins, as does his inept assistant Vledder (Ron Brandsteder).
MYSTERY OF THE GREEN SPIDER (196)-IN GERMAN WITH ENGLISH SUBS, LETTERBOXED PRINT. directed by Franz Marischka. At a night club, popular singer Maria is shot in her dressing room, but nobody could hear the shot as at the same time trumpeteer Ted Wagner (Adrian Hoven) played one of his trademark solos. Police inspector Bock (Jochen Brockmann) is at first baffled, so much so that at first a suicide isn't totally ruled out - but surprisingly he manages to always keep his eyes on the ball. Reporter Peter Thorsten (Hans von Borsody) smells a big story and starts investigating on his own, which quickly leads him to young waitress Yvonne (Renate Ewert), who claims her mother, also a singer, has been murdered 5 years ago exactly the same way. Only that murder was ruled a suicide and she has been put into a mental institution for not believing the suicide theory. So she's mostly high-strung and keeps information to herself, but she opens up to Peter and tells him before Maria's murder somebody had been whistling a certain melody, just like before the murder of her mother. The coatroom lady promises Peter information about the murderer, but then she's found poisoned, and it's not sure whether the poison was actually for her or for singer Penny (Dany Mann), Maria's replacement. Peter suspects the latter and soon suspects club owner Elena (Bettina Schön), who's also a singer and who wants to take Maria's place next to Ted Wagner. Thing is, eventually everybody else starts to suspect Yvonne, and a warrant is put out for her, leaving Peter with no option but to hide her in his apartment.
NIGHT OF THE MONSTERS (1988)-IN SPANISH WITH ENGLISH SUBS. directed by Gilberto de Anda, Stars: Hugo Stiglitz, Sergio Goya. But they don’t know that she has a bloodthirsty parasite in her that want to switch body… and not only that, outside a big monster is lurking, hungry for human flesh!

Gloria returns home after three years without notice, where her mother-in-law Julia (Pilar Bardem) takes care of her husband and former torero Juan that has been paralyzed for three years after a fatal accident in the arena and pays the mortgage of the apartment giving Spanish classes. She unsuccessfully tries to heist the money of one of the illegal business of the Mafia in a fur coat store in Madrid; then she tries to find a job, but without education and qualification, she prostitutes to raise some money. When the hit-men Eduardo (Federico Luppi) and his partner Oswaldo (Daniel Jimenez Cacho) are sent to Madrid to retrieve the notebook and execute Gloria, the middle-aged Eduardo is in crisis since his daughter is very sick and he believes God is punishing him and decides to not kill Gloria.
NO THANKS, COFFEE MAKES ME NERVOUS (19)-IN ITALIAN WITH ENGLISH SUBS. Lodovico Gasparini, tars: Lello Arena, Maddalena Crippa, Massimo Troisi. VERY RARE GIALLO! a self-reflexive giallo spoof set in Naples and starring comedian Lello Arena, has a plot curiously similar to Tenebre-, a black-gloved maniac (who calls himself Funiculi Funiculà, from the title of a famous Parthenopean song) dispatches actors and musicians who are allegedly culpable for destroying the traditional and stereotyped image of Neapolitan culture (just like the victims in Argento’s film are guilty of not conforming to conventional morals) and announces his deeds via letters or phone calls.
THE NYLON NOOSE (1963)- Director: Director:Rudolf Zehetgruber. Stars: Helga Sommerfeld, Laya Raki. Uncut German version (the U.S. English dub now on DVD was severely hacked down) of this Gothic, sometimes sleazy Krimi from frequent Jess Franco producer Erwin C. Dietrich. First time subtitled anywhere as far as I know. Extremely rare german Made Krimi film in the Edgar wallace genre of thrillers. A company's stockholders hold their meeting at a lonely mansion. A mad doctor conducting experiments in the mansion starts to strangle them one at a time with a nylon noose. The survivors must figure out a way to stop him. This is an entertaining early krimi. Although not officially part of the Edgar Wallace series, it definitely has all the earmarks. The inspector shyly courts the leading lady, there's a comic-relief assistant (dubbed by the same voice that does the similar character in the actual series), a few clever editing and camera tricks, and some Soho striptease scenes (cut for the Medallion TV print). It has a creepy side, too, with the monstrous-looking heavy from Dark Eyes of London creeping around the caves under the mansion.
ONE AGAINST THE OTHER, PRACTICALLY FRIENDS (1981)- IN ITALIAN WITH ENGLISH SUBS, LETTERBOXED PRINT. Director: Bruno Corbucci, Cast:Tomas Milian, Renato Pozzetto, AnnaMaria Rizzoli, Bombolo. An industrialist wants to corrupt a politician in Rome and here he meets Monnezza. The thief will help the entrepreneur to recover the stolen goods.

Matou is an innocuous, gentle-looking man. He is married to a formidable, even a frightening woman, who is as dissatisfied with him as he is with her. He knows everything there is to know about restoring and authenticating manuscripts, particularly ancient ones, through his job at the museum. One day, it occurs to him that his skills could be put to use in a more personal way, and he embarks on a private career of re-arranging the documents of people who have had the misfortune to be married to the wrong people...
PARIS DOES NOT EXIST (1969)-IN FRENCH WITH ENGLISH SUBS, LETTERBOXED PRINT. Director: Robert Benayoun, Stars: Danièle Gaubert, Serge Gainsbourg, Richard Leduc. This film marks the directorial debut of Robert Benayoun. An artist (Richard Leduc) attending a party smokes some dope and develops the ability to see into the future and the past. He returns to his apartment where he sees the vision of a woman who had lived there 30 years ago. A friend tries to convince him it is his heightened sensitively as an artist that allows for the newfound abilities, but he soon has psychedelic hallucinations and his abilities increase with time. Stop-motion photography is effectively used in his sequence of visual experiences where the people exist but not the city in this metaphysical story.
PRESAGIO (1970)-IN SPANISH WITH ENGLISH SUBS, LETTERBOXED PRINT. Berta, who has paranormal powers, collaborates with a psychiatrist to decipher the enigmatic murder of a woman named Renata. Miguel Iglesias Bonns began his directing career in 1942. He directed a total of 37 films. He hopped from genre to genre and directed such films as GREEN INFERNO, NIGHT OF THE HOWLING BEAST, and the two jungle girl KILMA films. He ended his career in 1988 with a Eurocrime entry,THE BARCELONA CONNECTION. He died in 2012. He made his first horror film in 1970, PRESAGIO, about a psychic who teams up with a psychologist to hunt down a killer of young women. I will soon make a subtitled version available in English for the first time!
REQUIEM FOR A BOSS (1964)-IN FRENCH WITH ENGLISH SUBS, LETTERBOXED PRINT. Director: Maurice Cloche, Stars: Pierre Mondy, Jacques Duby, Jean-Pierre Bernard. Jo Pinelli is a boss, trafficker, racketeer and notorious pimp. Brigade Mondaine officer Antoine Delille vowed to bring him down. Showing determination and method, he arrests the thug for a trifle, which leaves him free to question his henchmen and his "winners"... until he confuses them. The movie explains very deeply how police force from the 36, Quai des Orfèvres investigates. They have to deal with prostitutes, protectors and other thugs such as robbers and racketters. Pierre Mondy is here as good as usual.

This film could be included in a trilogy with I Vitelloni(1953) of Federico Fellini and Main Street(1956)Calle Mayor(original title) of Juan Antonio Bardem, all three films have in common a group of friends who spend some time together and share their experiences with women. It's one of the first films of what later would become the expert in Mafia movies, Damiano Damiani. We have a very good bunch of actors, headed by Walter Chiari. Joining him, Francisco Rabal, Letícia Román, Riccardo Garrone, Dominique Boschero, Paul Guers, Gastone Moschin, Jacqueline Pierreux, Mino Guerrini, Mimma Di Terlizzi, Livia Contardi. The film is not a comedy, as noted, is just a drama, a strong realistic drama, very well played, in the good old Italian 60's style.

The misadventures of Saverio Ravizzi, a Sicilian worker who escapes death during a demonstration and therefore finds a new job in a factory in Bergamo. The man begins to mobilize his fellow workers for better working conditions, unaware that his spontaneous activism is in fact used as part of a large financial system by the factory owner.
THE VAMPIRE SPIDER (2012)-IN SPANISH WITH ENGLISH SUBS. Father and son — who’s on a battery of meds evidently to counter psychosis — aren’t close, and Antonio feels that a weekend away would do them both good. Their relationship is barely sketched in before the titular spider rudely intrudes on Jeronimo’s bedroom at night, in what ends up being the pic’s scariest scene. To ease his son’s fears that he’s been bitten, Antonio takes him to a doctor (Paula Ituriza), who treats the boy’s small bite and sends them on their way with no concerns. Of course, no self-respecting horror pic treats scientists of any stripe with less than contempt and doubt, and that holds true here. Naturally, the bite grows worse, freaking out poor Jeronimo, who wanders away from the cabin in dazed fear. Camila (Ailin Salas), a mysterious girl who manages the cabin, finds Jeronimo and leads him to a local medicine man (Ricardo “Archi” Hart), who coldly informs the lad his bite is fatal and can only be reversed … by being bitten again by another vampire spider! And not just anywhere, but smack in the eyeball.
